Dortmund is considered a unique place to study in the field of logistics: the Logistics degree course, which in this form is unique in Germany, has enjoyed a positive reception throughout the industry. The combination of lectures in natural science, business administration and technology in the basic study period forms a broad base, which is built upon in the advanced study period with specialist knowledge in the fields of material flow systems, transport logistics or production logistics.
In addition to this, Logistics for Economists is a two-year supplementary course offering students the possibility to extend their knowledge of logistics from their degree course, with a focus on the technical sector.
A further distinctive feature of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Dortmund University of Technology is the Graduate School of Energy Efficient Production and Logistics. The Graduate School is one of 17 newly established Research Schools in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and a collaborative initiative of the faculties of Mechanical Engineering, Biochemical and Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Mathematics and Statistics of the TU Dortmund University and the Ruhr University Bochum. The doctoral program of the Graduate School is based on a well-structured curriculum, designed to guide budding researchers from all over the world towards completion of their doctoral work within three years.
www.logedugate.de is a multimedia e-learning platform for logistics, initiated among others by the Dortmund University of Technology . It aims to promote the integral training of students using a web-based learning, communication and information platform that supplements the standard university courses.
The University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund also offers Logistics as a special option subject for courses in Economics, Business and Engineering and Business Information Technology.
