The City of Dortmund has set itself the objective of developing the logistics sector. As part of a regional initiative the Logistics Initiative Eastern Ruhr Region was started. It supports companies already existing in Dortmund as well as those who are interested in setting up here. The State of North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) also promotes the sector with its State Logistics Initiative.

The founders’ center is located at the entrance to Dortmund’s harbor in the historical Rhenus building. This is where young companies in the logistics field can get a wide range of support. Regular information events round off the service.

LogNetRuhr
Founded by the state of NRW, Project Ruhr with LogNetRuhr bundles the efforts of the communities and regions to develop the Ruhr Metropolitan Area into a European leader for high quality logistics services.
Club of Logistics
Top managers from the logistics sector founded this club with the aim of strengthening public interest in logistics while demonstrating its importance for the European economy and to give the logistics industry a voice.

The Chamber of Industry and Commerce is actively involved in promoting Dortmund as a logistics location. The IHK is particularly active in the Transportation Economy Working Committee and the Transport Association Westfalen Lippe.
